    This 8 week course provides two site tours sponsored by EPCOR and an in-depth study of wastewater treatment processes, focusing on the operational controls required to optimize system performance and meet regulatory standards, such as those outlined in the Aquifer Protection Permit (APP). Students will learn the biological and chemical principles that underpin process control, including the fundamentals of flocculation, sludge age, and settleability. Through practical application and analysis, students will gain skills in managing activated sludge, controlling nutrient removal, and troubleshooting common wastewater treatment issues. This course is ideal for individuals seeking foundational knowledge in wastewater treatment operations or completing professional development hours. Sucessful completers of this course will earn an exclusive 15% discount off their first Water Operator Trainig for Levels 1 & 2 at Central Arizona College.
