The AHA’s BLS (Basic Life Support) course trains participants to promptly recognize several life-threatening emergencies, give high-quality chest compressions, deliver appropriate ventilations and provide early use of an AED. Reflects science and education from the American Heart Association Guidelines Update for CPR and Emergency Cardiovascular Care (ECC).
Who should take this course?
The AHA’s BLS Course is designed for healthcare professionals and other personnel who need to know how to perform CPR and other basic cardiovascular life support skills in a wide variety of in-facility and prehospital settings.
What does this course teach?
- High-quality CPR for adults, children, and infants
- The AHA Chain of Survival, specifically the BLS components
- Important early use of an AED
- Effective ventilations using a barrier device
- Importance of teams in multirescuer resuscitation and performance as an effective team member during multirescuer CPR
- Relief of foreign-body airway obstruction (choking) for adults and infants
Note: This training is open to all ages. It is recommended that students 15 years or younger enroll with a parent or guardian.

- Basic Hand Built Ceramics

This course will be structured around the techniques of hand building. Beginning with pinch pots, using coils for coil building forms. Projects will encourage you to think outside the box so that you will have the ability to experiment with sizes and shapes.
Supplies: Basic ceramic art tool kit, 25 lbs. of clay, and flash drive/thumb drive for storing visual examples. Supplies can be purchased thorugh the Superstition Mtn. Campus Bookstore. To inquire about cost of supplies or to verify if items are in stock please call the bookstore at: (480) 677-7709. Supplies can also be purchased through an alternate local art supplier or craft store. (Supplies are not included in the cost of the course, student is responsible for purchasing and bringing supplies needed for the course)

- The Art and Science of Throwing Clay on the Potter's Wheel

Have you put off the chance to learn about creating your own ceramic pieces using a pottery wheel? Now is your chance! Enroll in this structured introductory course and learn how to throw clay on a potter's wheel. This class is designed for students with little to no experience with ceramics and using a potter's wheel. Students will learn how to choose and prepare clay to use on the potter's wheel.

- Ceramic Jewelry Making and Storage

In this class, students will make wearable jewelry and functional storage for their creations. Learn how to make functional connections for your wearable art and creative ways to store your precious items. Projects will involve earrings, pendants, necklaces, including ring holders, earring stands and trinket box.
Supplies: Basic tool kit, clay, round nose plier, flat nose plier, chain nose plier, wire cutter, kanthal wire, glaze, underglaze and stain. Supplies (Basic Took Kit and Clay only) can be purchased thorugh the Superstition Mtn. Campus Bookstore.
