    This course is a beginning to intermediate handbuilding class, students will learn to make functional pottery including serve ware, mugs, bowls and more. A range of construction techniques including slab, coil, and pinch pots, and templates will be used. Students must be 16 years of age or older to enroll.

    Supplies: Basic ceramic art tool kit, 25 lbs. of clay. Supplies can be purchased thorugh the Superstition Mtn. Campus Bookstore. To inquire about cost of supplies or to verify if items are in stock please call the bookstore at: (480) 677-7709. Supplies can also be purchased through an alternate local art supplier or craft store. (Supplies are not included in the cost of the course, student is responsible for purchasing and bringing supplies needed for the course)

    The AHA’s BLS (Basic Life Support) course trains participants to promptly recognize several life-threatening emergencies, give high-quality chest compressions, deliver appropriate ventilations and provide early use of an AED. Reflects science and education from the American Heart Association Guidelines Update for CPR and Emergency Cardiovascular Care (ECC).

    Who should take this course?

    The AHA’s BLS Course is designed for healthcare professionals and other personnel who need to know how to perform CPR and other basic cardiovascular life support skills in a wide variety of in-facility and prehospital settings.

    What does this course teach?

    • High-quality CPR for adults, children, and infants
    • The AHA Chain of Survival, specifically the BLS components
    • Important early use of an AED
    • Effective ventilations using a barrier device
    • Importance of teams in multirescuer resuscitation and performance as an effective team member during multirescuer CPR
    • Relief of foreign-body airway obstruction (choking) for adults and infants

    Special Note: You must be registered and paid prior to the first day of class to participate. Registration into the class will not be processed after a class has begun.

    Note: This training is open to all ages. It is recommended that students 15 years or younger enroll with a parent or guardian.

    Discover the freedom to create at your own pace in our Ceramics Open Lab! This flexible, self-directed studio experience is designed for individuals who want hands-on access to our ceramic's facilities without the structure of a traditional class. Participants can design, throw, and glaze their own pottery projects, exploring personal creativity in a supportive environment.

    While the lab encourages independence, ceramics instructors will be available during the scheduled open lab to provide guidance, answer questions, share techniques, and fire pottery projects. Whether you are refining your skills or experimenting with new ideas, this open lab offers the space and resources to bring your ceramics visions to life.

    Prerequisite: Prior ceramics experience recommended.

    Materials & Fees: Clay may be purchased from the bookstore on the CAC Superstition Mountain Campus. Firing and glaze materials are included in the cost of the course. Participants should bring personal tools.

    This course will be structured around the techniques of hand building. Beginning with pinch pots, using coils for coil building forms. Projects will encourage you to think outside the box so that you will have the ability to experiment with sizes and shapes.
